BOUNCE News BOUNCE Nutrition Ambassador Program at Centro Cristiano de Fe y Restauración The BOUNCE Program reached over 200 adults and children with the Nutrition Ambassador Program. The participants learned about MyPlate and how to reduce added sugar and fat in their meals. UH BOUNCE Expands Community Gardening to Third Ward This fall, fourth and fith graders from Blackshear Elementary participated in BOUNCE's Master Growers Club, an afterschool program that teaches elementary and middle school students how to garden and grow their own healthy food. Staff Spotlight: BOUNCE Program Coordinator Promotes Health, Research and Diversity As a former events planner and development coordinator, Ashley Schwartz is quick to think on her feet. Those years of project management experience gave her the tools needed to succeed as program coordinator for the University of Houston’s BOUNCE program. Read more! Get Moving!” at Annual 5K Fun Run/Walk Families were encouraged to ‘Get Up Get Moving’ at BOUNCE’s annual 5K/Fun Run. Funds raised allow families to participate in BOUNCE community programs. Dr. Norma Olvera Presents Program Findings at Food and Family Conference Dr. Olvera, director of the BOUNCE Healthy Lifestyle Program shared strategies for developing nutrition education programs for Latinos at the Food and Family Conference. Lace Up and Move begins at De Zavala and Burnet Elementary Schools Lace Up and Move is a 12-week after-school exercise program for children ages 9-14. The participants engage in structured exercise classes and physical activity games, and receive nutrition education with elements of mindfulness. Join Abriendo Caminos Abriendo Caminos is a six-week family nutrition program focused on nutrition education, exercise, and family time. If you are interested in joining this program, please call us at (832) 842-5921 BOUNCE to Health Summer 2019: Now Accepting Applications The award-winning BOUNCE summer program promotes healthy eating, regular physical activity and positive body image among African American and Hispanic youth and their families. BOUNCE Program Earns Grant The Aetna Foundation has awarded BOUNCE a $75,000 grant for an innovative program to promote mindful eating and exercise among minority adolescents and adults. Grocery Guidance BOUNCE offers tips for selecting nutritious foods during grocery tours throughout Houston. We try to make food shopping fun, rather than a chore!
